The composer must produce what he/she has in his/her mind, pursuing his/her own musical language, but also taking into account particularities of the commission and exploiting them to his/her advantage.
I am always seeking to develop my musical language. I hope it is flexible enough to adapt to a wide variety of circumstances.
The challenge is to enter the deep well of the score, the fulfilment comes when you reach a complete empathy with the players in real time, and this can possibly make the music spring.
