Sometimes I would like to revisit a piece I haven’t played in years, as I often find these come out in a more refreshed way, but other times I just play what I have been learning or simply something which I enjoy playing and sharing with others.
For me the greatest advantage of being a musician is the freedom to do what I want and what interests me. So I would say the definition of success would be the ability to choose to do things that I love, to play pieces I love with people or orchestras I enjoy working and playing with.
Desire and hunger are the two key elements that I would impart to aspiring musicians. By desire, I mean that there shouldn’t be anything in the world you would rather do than sing.
