I have been very fortunate to work with the musicians I like to work with, so there are no extra challenges for me. I always value their suggestions for performing issues (for example, the choreography of hands in piano writing) or even musical suggestions regarding the composition.
Those are the best moments; when you’re collaborating with others and they share a way to find something new within music, and you’re thrown out of your own head.
the greatest challenge is to remember to take pleasure in the journey of being a composer rather than being overly focused on end goals. Obviously, we have goals, but sort of ironically, the best way to get to them is to stay engaged in the day-to-day process and find joy in that.
