The first memories I have of wanting to be a musician come from watching Freddie Mercury and Michael Jackson performing, which made me think being on a stage would be a lot of fun. To this day, the stage is one of my favourite places and is where I feel the most comfortable
When I recorded the score for The Windermere Children recently, about children who had survived the Holocaust, I spent a lot of time in the session explaining to the performers what each piece was about, what was happening in the scene, and it made such an incredible difference to the emotion of the score.
The joy when the work will be played is definitely a special pleasure. I mostly use Sibelius for writing and once when I give a musician a part, then my music come to life. That is a very special moment.
Who or what inspired you to pursue a career in music? Nothing was planned, really. Spontaneously, one day I wondered what it would be like
