I am an early 20th century fiend. My sweet spot is that blend of late impressionism, jazz, and the steely influence of the Machine Age.
Being a teacher gives another type of understanding of the repertoire which we play. When you also teach it to others you see things in another light.
There are some composers that I immediately connect with. I can’t explain it, but some composers I know I will enjoy no matter what.
Essentially, all life experiences culminate into artistry.
