As musicians, what we strive for most is for our work to make people feel something, whether it be a source of comfort or an exhilarating high.
I feel happy that after 20 or so years of performing and recording as a completely freelance singer, I still come away from my work loving it and wanting to do more.
Be adaptable and do what makes you happy. Create your own path and don’t be scared of taking risks.
Our work is in skills and craftmanship and that takes time and every day you make music is a progression to a day when it will feel easier or different. It’s a life-long process, and it will be ever changing and that’s ok.
