Our repertoire is vast – it is one of the reasons the four of us love playing quartets. We play music from all eras, and especially enjoy playing traditional repertoire alongside contemporary music. But one composer whose works we return to again and again is Bartók.
I think of success for me as simply knowing that my music has made a difference in someone else’s life. If I can impact someone emotionally and make them feel something, I believe that is massive success
the power of being able to move people with your music, to transport them to a different place, is incredible
the more I can engage with audiences, and ideally introduce them to more obscure repertoire, the more successful I feel
Stay true to yourself, and enjoy the music…it seems like something so simple, but it’s not to be taken for granted
