Who or what are the most significant influences on your musical life and career as a composer?

As a composer, I draw concepts from numerous resources inclusive of classical composers like Bach, Beethoven, and Mozart, and in addition, to current musicians like Hans Zimmer and John Williams. Additionally, I’m influenced by influential cultures, nature, culture and personal reports, all of which contribute to shaping my musical fashion and creativity.

In the realm of Chinese pop music, my impacts are various. I draw concepts from iconic figures like Iskandar Ismail, Valen Hsu, Teresa Teng, Faye Wong, Joker Xue and Li Rong Hao, who’ve left an enduring impact on the style. Additionally, I’m encouraged by using conventional Chinese song, contemporary tendencies in pop culture, and the dynamic evolution of the Chinese song enterprise. Staying attuned to the heartbeat of audience additionally forms my method for composing Chinese pop tunes.

What have been the greatest challenges of your career so far? 

The greatest challenge of my career so far have been getting enough true fans who really could appreciate our music.

What are the special challenges/pleasures of working on a commissioned piece? 

The special challenges of working on a commissioned piece are the client project brief requirements have somewhat difference of which I thought of. 

What are the special challenges/pleasures of working with particular musicians, singers, ensembles or orchestras? 

The special challenges of working with particular musicians are they have their own requirements or expectations of the final musical compositions and if I really need to collaborate with them on certain projects, most of them doesn’t align with what I wish to focus on and have to call off the projects. Only for other musicians or singers lesser expectations and requirements but because they are royalty-free and willingness to complement my music and able to complete those collaborative pieces.

How would you characterise your compositional language?

My compositional language is a fusion of precision and fluidity. I strive to balance structure and spontaneity, drawing from a diverse palette of linguistic elements to create engaging and coherent compositions. Whether it’s crafting concise explanations or evocative narratives, I aim to communicate effectively while embracing the beauty and flexibility of language

How do you work?

Creating tracks in a bedroom studio may be amusing and worthwhile to revel in! Here’s a popular workflow I comply with:

1. Setup: Arrange my devices, like my PC, audio interface, MIDI controller, and monitors, in a comfortable and ergonomic way.

2. Software: Open my favoured digital audio laptop (DAW) software. This is where I’ll document, edit, and arrange my song.

3. Inspiration: Start with a concept or concept for my track. It could be a melody, chord development, or maybe just a temper I want to convey.

4. Recording: Record my devices, vocals, or any other sounds I need to encompass in my tune. This can be accomplished with microphones, MIDI controllers, or without delay within the DAW with virtual instruments.

What do you feel needs to be done to grow classical music’s audiences?

What is your idea of perfect happiness?

Perfect happiness, in my opinion, includes a deep sense of contentment and achievement in which one feels absolutely aligned with their cause, surrounded by cherished ones, and experiencing moments of joy and peace. It’s a 5kingdom wherein concerns and anxieties fade away, leaving room for appreciation of the existing second and gratitude for all that lifestyle.

What do you enjoy doing most?

Without a doubt, I revel in the innovative process of composing music. There’s something magical about bringing exceptional melodies, harmonies, and rhythms together to create something entirely new. It’s like fixing a puzzle wherein every piece contributes to the general picture.

What is your most treasured possession?

My most treasured possession is undoubtedly my piano keyboard, a gateway to honing my piano-playing talents and expressing my music capabilities.

What is your present state of mind?

I’m feeling positive! Positive states of mind can lead to extended motivation, creativity, and overall mental well-being.
