Interviews with musicians, composers and conductors
Always play with integrity and never compromise your own interpretations to suit those of someone else.
I think that singing and shaping a phrase with a beautiful tone is probably one of my best qualities (but surely every cellist must believe that!)
Who or what inspired you to pursue a career in music and who or what have been the most important influences on your musical life
I learned so much about myself through the different experiences in different colleges, competitions, projects, travels, all of which fed my artistry. Widen your circle, be bold, say yes. You can (almost) always come back.
You don’t have to formally study composition to write, look at scores you love, play pieces you love, find a way to communicate your ideas to performers or on the page
Place yourself in the present musical moment as often as possible! When this happens, I find it means you are being most true to your musical self, without any other motivations whatsoever.
